Sumilon Island, A Paradise Down South

Located on Sumilon Island is the Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort, a private beach resort that provides excellent amenities and facilities for tourists and guests.

Just south of Cebu, Sumilon is almost 3 hours drive from South Bus Terminal.  Take the earliest trip to Oslob so you can catch the 9:30 am trip to the island. Bus fare is only Php 170 but prepare your Php 1500 for a day tour at the island. This amount includes lunch and resort’s facilities.

A pump boat will bring you to the island so while waiting just enjoy the relaxing view of calm water and the green mountains or sleep in the lounges provided if you’re still sleepy because of the early trip (‘,’).

An ideal place to those who wants to escape the busy life in the city and the pressure from work. Enjoy the island as you can swim, snorkel, sunbathe or do some picnic with friends.

A portion of the island is under developed. You can have a 40 minutes hike in the forest overlooking the waters of Oslob.

Sumilon island is known for its sandbar that changes shape and shifts location depending on season.

You can also enjoy the infinity pool if you don't want  the sea water.

With the crystal clear water and  and white sand beaches and its top of the class resort indeed, Sumilon island is one of the best destinations in Cebu.

Coron, A Truly Enchanting Place

Another long vacation and a trip was already planned months before. Where to??? Coron, Palawan. Thanks to Cebu Pacific Air for their promos, we only got our round trip ticket from Cebu for only P976.00.
Cebu to Busuanga trip takes almost 2 hours so better load your phones with music or your laptops with movies so you won’t get bored during the travel. Ask the airline ticket issuance counter staff to place you at the window side  so you’ll have a better view around the place.

 At last, we’ve arrived.

Book  early for your accommodation. Coron is busy between months of October to May according to our tour guide. I suggest you book at Coron Eco Lodge. The place is good, with cable and wifi, staffs are friendly and accommodating.

Bring cash and not credit card for you won’t be able to use that  stuff around Coron. Many offers package tours, search over the internet what spots you want to visit so you can choose between the tour packages offered. Or better rent a boat costs Php 1500 so you can visit the all spots. Prepare entrance fee ( Kayangan Lake’s entrance fee is Php300). Note that in the package only 6 spots are included.

Prepare yourself for the 700+ steps going to Mt. Tapyas. But it paid once up in the mountain. You’ll have a spectacular view of the islands. Nice to be up there  during sunrise or sunset.

Buy pasalubong for friends. You’ll find 2 or 3 shops for the stuffs. Or cashew nuts for Palawan is known for that. Ask the driver to drop you at Coron Harvest where you can buy cashew nuts for as low as Php 50 to Php 375.

Day 2- The most awaited part where we can see the spots we’ve been wanting to see ever since we’ve surf the internet about Coron. At 8;00 am we were fetched at our hotel for the 8;30 start of our tour. Together with 2 Japanese couple whose been in the Philippines for 14 years, we sailed to our first destination. First stop is the KAYANGAN Lake. Going there, you’ll have a great view of area.

You thought that you’ll only be climbing Mt. Tapyas? Think again! You’ll have hundred steps up before seeing the scenic beauty of Kayangan lake.

Resting for a few minutes
Perfect view for postcard

Your effort will be worthy once arrived at the lake. View is so breath taking you’ll think you’re in some paradise.

Bring snorkel gadgets if you have so you’ll have a better view under water. Rocks formations were like kingdom from under water Disney cartoon movies. You can rent snorkel stuffs if you don’t have for Php 100 only. They also have underwater cam for rent for about Php 1000 so if you have extra money…grab one (‘,’).

We headed for a stop at Atwayan beach for lunch. When you get a package tour, lunch and snacks are provided. Unfortunately, one of our companion is allergic to crab and was not able to bring some anti-allergy.
